The team
The people who run La Mezquita have been working with plant medicines for many years. They come from backgrounds in psychotherapy, ceremonial practice, music, and somatic work. Below is a short introduction to each of them.
Babaji
Founder & Lead Facilitator
Babaji founded La Mezquita after years of working with plant medicines in ceremonial and therapeutic contexts. He leads the psilocybin and San Pedro ceremonies and oversees the facilitation approach across all retreats. He is present for the whole of every retreat he runs.
Vicky
Psychologist & Screening Lead
Vicky is a licensed psychologist who leads the screening process for all retreats. She conducts the pre-retreat calls, assesses health questionnaires, and is present throughout the retreat weekend. She brings both clinical training and genuine warmth to the work.
Liz
Facilitator & Integration Support
Liz works with participants through the ceremony and into the integration period that follows. She has a background in somatic therapy and has trained extensively in psychedelic facilitation. Many participants find her presence particularly grounding during difficult moments in the experience.
Steve
Musician & Facilitator
Steve plays live music during the psilocybin ceremonies, adapting what he plays to the energy in the room. He has been playing in ceremonial contexts for many years and understands how music moves a session. He also takes an active role in the facilitation during San Pedro walks.
Laura
Facilitator & Retreat Coordinator
Laura coordinates the logistics of each retreat and is a key part of the facilitation team. She handles the practical side of the retreat — the space, the food, the flow of the day — so that participants and the rest of the team can be fully present. She is also available for individual conversations during the retreat.
Rael
Facilitator — Ancestral Shamanism, Brazil
Rael brings ancestral shamanism, ceremonial music, and fire into the work at La Mezquita. Initiated in the terreiro and shaped by Santo Daime and the Huni Kuin tradition, he works with forest medicines as ancestral technologies for healing and the transformation of consciousness.
