Integration

The retreat is not the end of the process. It is often the beginning of the harder part — returning to ordinary life and finding out what the experience actually means for how you live.

Integration is the word used for this: the gradual work of making sense of what happened, sitting with what was difficult, and letting what was clear actually change something. It does not happen quickly, and it cannot be rushed.

What integration is not

Integration is not something someone else does for you. A therapist, a support group, or a follow-up call can be useful, but the real work is yours. What you do in the weeks after the retreat — how you sleep, what you pay attention to, whether you act on what you saw clearly — matters more than any session.

It is also not always comfortable. Some people feel raw or uncertain for a few weeks after a ceremony. This is normal. It usually settles, and most people find it worthwhile when they look back.

Practical things that help

In the first few days: rest, eat well, spend time in nature if you can. Limit alcohol. Give yourself space from work demands if possible. Write things down — not to analyse, but to remember.

In the weeks that follow: notice what has shifted. Notice what you are still carrying. Be patient with yourself. If something from the experience keeps coming up, that is usually where the useful work is.

How we support you after the retreat

Every retreat includes a brief integration conversation before you leave — a chance to ground what happened and think about what comes next. After that, you can reach us by message or call in the days that follow. We are not going anywhere after you leave.

If you want a more structured integration session — a dedicated conversation with one of the team a few weeks later — we offer that too. It is not mandatory, but some people find it useful to have a second conversation once the immediate experience has settled.

Questions about what to expect?

Write to us before the retreat. It is better to ask than to arrive with something unanswered.
