Ayahuasca Retreat at La Mezquita

Two nights, carefully held

Ayahuasca is a strong medicine. It asks something of you before you arrive, and it will ask more during the ceremony itself. We say this not to discourage you, but because honest preparation is part of the work.

The retreat runs across two nights at the retreat centre in El Campello — on the coast, north of Alicante, with a ceremony held indoors each night. The facilitation team is present throughout both. There is no fixed finishing time — each session ends when it ends, and you stay the night.

Between the two ceremonies there is a full day to rest, integrate, and prepare for the second night. On the final morning there is breakfast and a short integration conversation before you leave. Most people find it useful to have that space before returning to ordinary life.

Ayahuasca ceremony preparation

How we work with this medicine

Ayahuasca ceremonies here draw on South American tradition, adapted for the people who come to us — mostly Europeans, mostly without previous experience of the medicine. The brew is prepared with care and the facilitation is attentive throughout the night.

Dosage and intention are discussed with you individually before the ceremony. If you are taking medication or have a psychiatric history, the pre-retreat screening conversation is where we work through whether this is the right retreat for you. We do not skip that conversation.

The setting is quiet, the group is small, and the team will not leave the room.

What is included

Two ceremonies with full facilitation. Vegetarian meals throughout. Two nights' accommodation in the ceremony space. An integration circle the morning after the first ceremony, and a final integration conversation before you leave. Post-retreat support by message or call in the days that follow.

The same €40 screening process applies as with all our retreats. Given the nature of ayahuasca, we take the pre-retreat conversation seriously.

Ayahuasca retreats in Spain

For many people in Europe, a considered ayahuasca retreat within the EU is simpler — and safer — than travelling to South America. La Mezquita is on the Costa Blanca, in El Campello just north of Alicante, a short flight from most of Europe, with the ceremony held at our own centre rather than an unfamiliar place abroad.

In Spain, personal consumption is decriminalised, and we work openly within that framework: informed consent, professional screening led by a licensed psychologist, and harm-reduction practice throughout. You are not stepping into a legal grey area run by strangers — you are coming to an established retreat centre that has worked this way since 2019.

Groups are small, mostly European, and mostly people sitting with the medicine for the first time. That shapes how we prepare you and how each night is held.

Getting here — Alicante & El Campello

The retreat centre is in El Campello, on the coast north of Alicante and close to Playa de San Juan, roughly a hundred metres from the sea. Alicante–Elche airport (ALC) is around thirty minutes away, with direct flights from across the UK and Europe.

Most guests fly in the day before, settle, and travel home the day after the second ceremony — that spacing gives the medicine room and makes the return gentler. If you are coming from elsewhere in Spain, El Campello sits on the Alicante tram line and is easy to reach by train or road.

Once your place is confirmed we send clear directions and everything you need to arrive calm and unhurried.
