Medication Recommendations

Medication Guidelines Before Your Retreat

For guests preparing for a retreat at La Mezquita, it's crucial to consider medication usage. Antidepressants and pharmaceuticals for pain, anxiety, or mental health conditions are generally advised against. This is particularly important for medications such as SSRI (except fluoxetine), SPARI, SNRI, TCA, or MAOI. For effective detoxification, long-term users may require a minimum of 21 days, and short-term users at least 15 days. Fluoxetine (Prozac) users should plan for a cessation period of at least 6 weeks prior to the retreat.

Please consult with your doctor about any changes to your medication regimen. This is especially vital for guests currently on psychiatric medications. Note that for safety reasons, our retreat cannot accommodate individuals diagnosed with emotionally unstable personality disorders or those with a personal or family history of psychosis.

Substance Use Policy

In preparation for your experience at La Mezquita, we advise against the use of intoxicants and stimulants. This includes alcohol, recreational drugs, and other substances that may impact your retreat experience. Reducing or eliminating these substances beforehand not only ensures your safety but also enhances the effectiveness of the psychedelic journey. We prioritize your well-being and the quality of your experience, and adhering to these guidelines is essential for a transformative retreat.
